"Passing It On: Strategies & Stories from the INCITE! National Conference and the US Social Forum"
Wednesday, September 12, 2007
Noon to 1 pm
CSU Lory Student Center
INCITE! Fort Collins is a community activist group for women and trans people of color against violence. This summer, INCITE! members traveled to two national conferences to learn, network, and share with other grassroots organizers. This presentation will pass on what we heard, saw, and learned. We will share stories about the amazing work that WOC did in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, inspiring projects by grassroots WOC groups around the nation like Sista II Sista and Southerners On New Ground (SONG), a standing-ovation speech by INCITE! co-founder and activist Andrea Smith, insights into economies based on solidarity rather than competition, and more.
This event is part of the Women at Noon discussion series sponsored by the Office of Women's Programs and Studies at CSU. It is free and open to the public.
